Start your day early to avoid the midday heat and set off for Sigiriya, just a 30-minute drive away. This ancient fortress, one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks, offers breathtaking views for those who reach the top. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear, as the climb is steep and uneven. If the ascent isn’t for you, the beautifully landscaped gardens at the base offer stunning views of the fortress and great photo opportunities. After your visit, return to the hotel for breakfast before embarking on a scenic 3-hour drive to Kandy. Along the way, consider stopping at a local spice garden for a delightful lunch. Once in Kandy, explore the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth), Sri Lanka’s most significant Buddhist site, and experience the vibrant atmosphere as pilgrims in white gather to pay their respects.

    Day 4 Kandy

The morning is yours to explore the charming city of Kandy, nestled amidst lush countryside. Discover its scenic lake, quaint shops, lively market, and delightful restaurants. Once the capital under the last Sri Lankan king, Kandy resisted European control for centuries, well after the coastal regions had surrendered. Stroll through the town to soak in its sights—explore the ancient citadel or embark on a nature walk at the nearby Udawattakele Sanctuary, a tropical rainforest teeming with vibrant flora, colorful birds, and playful monkeys.

For lunch, savor an unforgettable meal at the Hela Bojun Restaurant, a social enterprise established by Sri Lanka’s agriculture ministry. This initiative not only offers employment and training to local women but also empowers them through their work. Indulge in delicious Sri Lankan cuisine while learning about the impactful mission behind the restaurant. After lunch, enjoy the rest of your day at your leisure, discovering more of what Kandy has to offer.

    Day 5 Unawatuna

This stunning beach destination offers a variety of local restaurants and bars where you can unwind and soak up the atmosphere. With no scheduled activities for the day, you have the freedom to explore Unawatuna at your own pace. Consider strolling through the charming, monkey-filled mangrove forest along the Galle–Matara road, or treat yourself to a relaxing massage.

    Day 6 Unawatuna

Sleep in, unwind on the beach, work on your tan, or savor a refreshing cocktail under the shade of a beachside restaurant. If you’re in the mood for something more adventurous, take a trip to nearby Galle for some sightseeing. Reason to choose the package
    • Sri Lanka’s equatorial location ensures generally consistent temperatures throughout the year. However, during the summer months, the heat intensifies, accompanied by brief, intense monsoons in the southwest region. It’s essential to use sun protection and stay hydrated.
    • Additionally, many beaches in Sri Lanka may not have lifeguards, so it’s wise to seek local advice on the safest places to swim.
